Damages Season 02 Episode 01

**Holy crap this show was hard to blog about with of all the time changes and plot twists so bear with me on this one please.

Last Season on Damages
Ellen Parsons gets a high profile job at the law firm ‘Hewes and Associates’ run by the very ‘don’t fuck with me’ Patty Hewes and has just recently become engaged to her dreamy Doctor fiancé. So why is she being interrogated for murder????

Through many flashbacks and forth we learn that Hewes and Associates is in the midst of a very highly publicized trial against Arthur Frobisher and his company. In a nutshell it he is accused of insider trading and screwed his employees out of everything they had so they are all suing him through Hewes and Associates.

Sometimes it seems that Arthur is guilty, then, other times it seems he is innocent.

During the trial Patty uncovers the fact that Arthur’s lawyer, Ray Fisk, is gay and paid off the man he was in love with (also a key witness against Arthur), so he shot himself in Patty’s office.

Arthur Frobisher is shot by one of the ex employees that was suing him but was also feeding him info at the same time.

Ellen has submerged herself so far into her work that her fiancé has had enough and calls off the engagement. Patty offers to let Ellen stay at her place while she is out of the city and in the middle of the night someone breaks in and attacks Ellen. They wrestle a bit and Ellen stabs the attacker in self defense and gets away………when she gets back to her apartment she finds her fiancé dead in the bathtub covered with blood. Ellen suspects Patty of setting up the attack and plan to kill her and thinks Arthur Frobisher killed her fiancé.

The FBI approaches Ellen. They have been investigating Patty Hewes for quite some time and now want Ellen to go back and work with Patty while helping the FBI take Hewes and Associates down.

Ellen agrees.



Damages Season 02 Episode 01
Wednesdays at 10 on F/X

We open with Ellen listening to some old jazz and talking to ‘someone’ but we can’t see who…….yet. She is sipping a drink and telling them that they should be scared.
“All I want is for you to tell the truth. But I know that can be hard for you so………………………..I brought something that I thought might help” Ellen reveals a gun.


6 months earlier…


Patty Hewes is on ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ to talk about her big win against Arthur Frobisher.
She announces that she is gonna use a big portion of the money she got in the settlement to start a foundation against hunger in New York.
**I call bullshit on that one. She is SO full of it.

Ellen is standing off to the side watching and Kelly and Regis point this out. Patty says “She hasn’t been with the firm for even a year and I can say that I would be absolutely lost without her”. Mm hmm


Ellen is now in a car with the FBI.
“The woman is full of shit” Ellen
**see?? I told ya
“A month ago she tried to kill me and now she is acting like my best friend” Ellen

The FBI is putting together a case that they need Ellen to sell to Patty. It’s a set up and Ellen needs to monitor it from the inside.


If you recall, Arthur Frobisher was shot at a secret meeting in the middle of a field by that ex employee that was also his informative who left Arthur in the field bleeding. Arthur is dragging himself across the filed covered in blood and comes across a house with a large German Sheppard chained out front. Bursting out the front door is……………..Ellen……with a rifle.
**UMMMMM. Huh?
**Oh, OK. I told ya, this show is a total mind fuck.


The old guy Pete that works for Patty has been keeping tabs on Ellen but Patty tells him he can stop now and he tries to convince her otherwise.
“OK, fine……..watch her. I am concerned about her well being” *evil grin*
**Dude, if anything…………..watch this show JUST for Glenn. The BEST manipulative bitch hands down. Next in line is Katey Segal in ‘Sons of Anarchy’ but that’s a whole other blog.


Daniel Purcell is marching through an office and looks PISSED. He storms into a room where there is a meeting taking place. He points out that the document in his hand is not his work. The people in the meeting try and calm him down and he throws everything off their table and onto the floor and slams down the document from his hand.
“This stops now” Daniel Purcell
**hmm, this may be one of the new cases that Patty is going to start working.


Arthur was in critical condition after the shooting. A construction crew found him and he was air lifted to a hospital. He had abdominal surgery and was transferred.

Seems he has had a kidney transplant and on top of his already white as snow hair, he now has a matching beard, which I gotta say suits him quite well. He also seems to have grown a bit emotional and he tears up because the nurse at the hospital is being nice to him even though Arthur thinks of himself as ‘The Most Hated Man In America’.


Sam Arsenault has withdrawn his entire contribution towards Patty’s foundation.
Cut to Patty at his office. Uh oh.
“Girls today could learn something from you Patty. YOU know how to wear a skirt, but you’re one of the boys, always have been.” Sam
“ahhhhhh except for the Vagina.” Patty
**Again…………….just for the Glenn

Sam explains that he is withdrawing from the foundation because the Republicans are backing him for Governor and they just don’t like Patty. His daughter shows up for lunch so the meeting ends.
“You wanna join us for a quick bite?” Sam
“oooooooohhh I’d love too………no thanks” *evil grin* Patty
**HAHAHA. Oh dear, this is not going to go over well.


A package has been hand delivered to Patty’s office and she has Old Pete open it (she ain’t taking any chances after last time). Just then her secretary announces that Daniel Purcell is on the phone. Patty hasn’t talked to him in over 10 years so is suspicious but takes the call. He asks if she received the package and begs her to just keep it.
“You’re the only one I can trust” Daniel
**And the plot thickens.


Tom and Ellen seem to have convinced Patty to take on the case that the FBI have secretly passed through Ellen. It’s an infant mortality case so it’s enticing to Patty for the publicity.


Ellen has been attending some sort of group therapy sessions to deal with loss and turns out that the new character this season is one of the people in her group sessions.
Wes Krulik
**Hawtee!! He plays the ex boyfriend on that show ‘Samantha Who’ with Christina Applegate.


Ellen can’t sleep but Patty is having nightmares.


Somebody has woken Daniel’s family at home while rummaging through his office downstairs. Wonder if they were looking for that package that he sent to Patty. Hmmm


Sam is on the phone begging for Patty’s help. His daughter has been arrested for Cocaine. There goes her chance to get into Yale never mind his shot at Governor.
**this WREAKS of Patty Hewes.


Old Pete tells Ellen the clinic where Arthur Frobisher is at.
**He is in bad shape dude. Both physically and mentally.


Speaking of in bad shape mentally, doesn’t seem that group therapy is doing any wonders for Ellen.


Daniel Purcell is begging Patty for help. His family is in danger. He has information and she knows people who can protect him. They seem to have some kind of history. She does NOT like him and refuses to help him.


Misery loves company and looks like Ellen will find solace in her new friend from group therapy, Wes. They both are obsessed with getting revenge on the person who killed their loved one (Her fiancé, his girlfriend).
“People like you and me? We only have 2 options: forgiveness or revenge.” Wes


Patty is having flashbacks to when Ray Fisk shot himself in her office and he is sitting in a chair talking to her.
“Confess to Ellen what you did to her” Ray
So patty asks Ellen to meet her Friday so they can talk.
“It’s about you…….and the Frobisher case. I didn’t explain everything that happened.” Patty
Ellen tells the FBI that she wants to wear a wire to said meeting.


Patty has read through all the files that Daniel sent to her. Turns out he was doing some sort of chemical analysis.
**Sounds very Erin Brockovich if you ask me.
Sam is here to talk to her, despite her efforts the D.A. wouldn’t drop the case on his daughter so he is no longer being backed for Governor. He is begging for her to let him back into the foundation.

At the gala for the foundation Patty runs into her son Michael who is friends with Sam’s daughter that is being sent to ‘Juvie’ for Cocaine..
“I told you she was a Coke head” Michael
*deep sigh* “Ya……….ya you did” Patty
**Patty wins again!!


Ellen pretended to be Arthur Frobisher’s wife and snuck her way into his room at the clinic he is recovering at.


Patty is going to take the case that Ellen found (the fake one from the FBI). Then Daniel shows up and apologizes and says he can deal with his issues on his own but needs her to send the package of files back to him.
**Betcha either she has made copies or will pretend it’s been lost or stolen. Just a guess.


Wes approached Ellen on the street and gave her a card for a number to a guy who can get guns. Yikes.

Now she is being wired by the FBI and they are briefing her for the meeting with Patty.
**I have a sneaky suspicion Patty is not gonna offer up any pertinent information. Not yet anyway, god, it’s only the first episode for crying out loud.


On the way home, Patty gets a phone call, I think she has just found her case that she will take instead of the Infant Mortality case.


6 months later…


Back to Ellen sipping her drink listening to Jazz.
“Looks like you’re not gonna tell the truth. That’s Ok, I lied too” Ellen
